Primary School Assembly

Please join us Friday, April 28th for our full school assembly at 14:00 in Lars Ask Auditorium. PY6 will be our featured class with PY1 joining in with a song. There will also be a short puppet performance given by two ELA students. We will wrap things up with a special story for everyone.

PY6 Exhibition 2017


We are excited to invite students and parents to the opening of the PY6 Exhibition for 2017 on Tuesday 2 May at 6 pm in the Lars Ask Auditorium. The Exhibition will also be open for viewing Wednesday 3 May 9:00-15:00 and Thursday 4 May 9:00-12:15 in the library in the high school building.

Sandar IL skolecup i fotball, 13 May 2017

For the 28th year in row, Sandar IL invites all schools grade 1 to 7 to Skolecupen on 13 May 2017 at Vesterøya Idrettspark (Kariåsen) - sign up due date 3 May. Boys and girls play on the same team, each team consisting of 5 players and any number of substitutes can be registered. We encourage our parents to organise class teams for a fun day at Kariåsen! Skagerak's Got Talent Show, 3 May

Middle and High school students proudly present the annual Skagerak's Got Talen Show in the Lars Ask Auditorium on Wednesday 3 May at 17:00.

50 kr for adulst, 30 kr for students and free for all under 12 years of age.

Updated hours for the homework club

Ms Kristina Unhjem is replacing Ms Sunde for the remainder of the 16-17 academic year. The homework club will now be held on Tuesdays only, 14:30 to 16:15 in the PY3 classroom. The Wednesday session is therefore cancelled.

We wish Ms Sunde the very best in her year long adventure of sailing around the world!

Lunch with the principal


Congratulations to Erik, Sumeia and Paulina for being recognized by the Skagerak community for going 'above and beyond'. They received the much sought after weekly lunch with the principal award, where they are treated to lunch in the cafeteria with the older students.

Python Club

Age group: PY6 – MY4

When: Wednesday B-weeks

In the Python Club, you will learn how to program in Python. We will make games, websites, software and so much more! Python is a language used by google, and one of the most used languages in the world. Major websites and software like Youtube, Instagram and Spotify are all made with Python. The school library is interested in acquiring new wooden bins to hold the picture book collection in the Primary School section of the library. Skagerak Playmakers present Oliver Twist, 31 March and 1 April

Everyone is invited toVerdensteateret on Kongensgate on 31 March and 1 April for this year's production, Oliver Twist.

Oliver Twist is a dramatic story, told in English, about a young orphan boy who finds himself alone on the streets of London in 1831. His is befriended by thieves and pickpockets, later rescued by a wealthy family and finally finds out about his true identity.

25 actors, ages 9-19 years have been skillfully directed by John Goodnow in recreating pre-Victorian London. Tickets available at the door. Adults: kr 150; children/students kr 50; Family ticket Kr 350

Come and enjoy yet another fantastic production from our very own theatre group!

Student led conferences for Primary school, 16 March

On Thursday 16 March from 13:00 to 19:00, Kindergarten and Primary school teachers at Skagerak International School will be holding student led conferences for the second term of 2016/2017. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 on this day.Please take a moment to sign up to see your child's teachers, as many of the times fill up quite quickly. Additionally this semester, Mr. Hans Jørgen Firing the school Director, will be available for meetings if you would like information, or have any questions or concerns for him.

The Primary school will student led conferences that give the students an opportunity to demonstrate their skills that they have learned this past year. Each slot is 45 minutes long and there are a total of four different students can sign up for each slot. If you would like to speak to any of the specialist teachers (Norwegian, Art, PE, Music, Learning Support and ELA) they will also be available for a 10 minute conference. Simply scroll through the different teachers to find their schedules or click each link below to go directly to their signup page.

Sign up Procedure

Please visit the link to schedule your meetings - see also the email that was sent to all parents on 6 March. You may sign up for meetings by ticking an available time slot. You can scroll through the available teachers with the tabs at the top of the page. If you want to change the date, simply choose from the top right pull down menu. Please make note of the time and try not to book teachers at the same time. You will receive an email notification of all your appointments two days prior to the scheduled conferences. You do not have to sign up for SignUpGenius; however, if you do, you will be able to make edits, cancel appointments, and have greater functionality in the program. If you have any troubles, questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Tony Egan for assistance.

On Monday 13 March 6-8 pm, 4 students from our IB Diploma programme will be exhibiting their works created during their 2 year study of visual arts. The Visual Arts department is proud to present their creative works and all members of the Skagerak community are invited to participate in the opening of the exhibition.

Chess champion at Skagerak

Artist Visit in PY1

As part of their current art unit, PY1 had a visit from local artist, Lizz Daniels, who showed them how to make collages with glue and paper, specifically serviettes. They produced their own colorful, vibrant works of art!

NIBS conference held at Skagerak

Skagerak hosted the annual NIBS conference (Norwegian International Baccalaureate Schools) on Thursday 9 February. Over 60 heads and coordinators from all areas of Norway were gathered to discuss and collaborate about IB education in Norway. It was a successful day and a perfect opportunity to showcase the great things that are happening at our school.

After being greeted by our young hosts from PY5, the participants were entertained with the PY2 class in the opening ceremony, before starting the scheduled individual sessions.
