Oresteia

At Skagerak International School we prepare you for studies or work anywhere in the world. We help you set your ambitions – and reach them.

This year’s play The Oresteia, written by Aeschylus is the oldest play we have in Western literature. It won the first place in the Athenean drama awards in 458 BCE, almost 2500 years ago! It tells the story of the murder of Agamemnon by his scheming wife Clytemnestra who is avenged by their son Orestes. Welcome to an evening of dramatic gore.

The Oresteia will be prefaced by The Golden Apple, written by John and Thomas Goodnow. This inaugural production tells the story of Kaos, who sets the Gods of Olympus against each other when he puts a golden apple in their midst. On the apple are written the words ‘to the fairest of them all’.

Sandefjords Blad visited rehearsals on 7 March 2020.
