Skagerak community is invited to join the dedication of The Elisabeth Norr Library
Skagerak International School is pleased to announce the dedication of its Senior School Library in honour of the school's founder, Elisabeth Norr. The Skagerak community is invited to join the dedication celebration during the its 17th of May breakfast celebration at 8:30.
Ms. Norr has been called Skagerak's "first lady," recognised for opening the school nearly 30 years ago. She subsequently guided Skagerak to the flagship reputation it enjoys today, both here in Norway and internationally. Ms Norr's passion for high quality teaching, combined with her desire to offer students only the best, led her to share her teaching experience from around the world; returning eventually to Sandefjord and establishing Skagerak International School in 1990. Ms. Norr has provided an opportunity for many thousands of students to attend an international school and experience the International Baccalaureate Programme.

Energy drink free-zone
We would like to remind all parents that high-sugar, high-caffeine energy drinks are not permitted at Skagerak during the school day. We have spoken to the local distributors about the legal requirements for selling these drinks to students, but we are still having difficulty keeping the drinks off campus. Please have a conversation with your son and/or daughter about this and help us keep Skagerak a healthy and productive learning community.

PY3-6 and MY1-4 students will meet with Knut Rinden during the school day tomorrow to learn more about well-being, life-skills, social media, cyber-bullying and gaming addiction. Knut Rinden's evening presentation will teach parents about how they can keep their children safe. There will be an opportunity for interaction and discussion. The presentation is in English and the PowerPoint slides are in Norwegian.

MY4 work experience days, 26 & 27 November
On Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 November, MY4 students will spend two days shadowing a job that they feel would be of interest to them. Job shadowing is intended to give students a realistic picture to the relevant tasks and responsibilities for a job where appropriate. Hosts are encouraged to give tasks that are meaningful and engage students which can help them develop key employ-ability skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication and time management. A survey will be distributed at the end of the second day so that hosts can give feedback on the student and their experience.
Here is the link to the form for those who are willing to host students. This form will remain open until Friday 26 October. Ms Sarah Sommerschield or Ms Fredriksen will contact you by 01 November to confirm student placement and make any further arrangements as necessary.
Thank you for investing your time and expertise in the Skagerak community.
