Cultural Day in Oslo

On the 29th of October 23 students signed up for a day of cultural exploration in Oslo. The highlight of the trip was a behind the scenes tour of the National Opera in Oslo. From mask making, costume, set design and the acoustics of the performance spaces we had a very educational day. We also got to try out our moves in the rehearsal rooms of the National Ballet and had a private audience with one of the Principal tenors. After lunch we also visited the National Film museum and spent time learning about Norway's film icons. Vadim Vladimirov from DP2 even had a chance to perform on a grand piano and showcase his talents.

A great day and a great group of students.

All the Fun of the Fair !

On September 10th Students and Staff from across the School joined forces to enjoy a morning of serious fun. The CAS and A&S fair was a great success with students mingling, engaging in presentations from guest speakers and also presenting their different projects.

Over 30 different groups have been created within the School this year including global awareness projects, creative groups and also ones for the more active among us.

All students will participate in several activities over the year and this will be recognized as part of their final diploma for both the MYP and DP.

Across the School community we will be supporting the building of a Primary School in Kenya this year and also working with the Mercy Ships organization who run a volunteer led hospital ship which is currently located off the coast of Madagascar.

We look forward to a great year. Please get in touch if you would like to support our projects.

Yvonne Folan, CAS coordinator

Give a Goat....Not 1 but 2

Your generous donations made during the Open Day Ceremony has enabled us to purchase 2 goats.

What do you call two locally-soursed, fully-vaccinated goats? A double great gift!

A breeding pair will support Oxfam's Making a Living programme and will produce twice the fertiliser and they'll also make more goats for either growing the heard or passing on to another family. Thank you also to all the students and staff who baked cakes and gave their time.

Thanks,
Ms Folan

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Last weekend, the Sandefjord Playmakers engaged their audience with an adaptation of C S Lewis’s classic favorite: Narnia, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The play was the most successful of the Playmaker’s four productions to date.  There were over forty students involved with the production, including current and former students at Skagerak.  According to Mr. Firing, “The students were really engaged . . .The costumes, lights and the make-up were excellent.  And the fights…….”  Enough said.
