Year 11 / Foundation Year / Norwegian VG1 Studiespesialisering

The Year 11 programme is for students who have completed the Norwegian 10th grade (10. klasse) or its equivalent. As well as developing core skills and completing the requirements for the Norwegian VG1 Studiespesialiserende , this first year gives students an opportunity to develop their abilities in subjects they may have had little background in previously, but which they may wish to take at in the Diploma programme. An important aim of the year is the development of students’ abilities in English, which is the language of instruction.

VG1 Studiespesialisering follows Norwegian curriculum

VG1 Studiespesialisering follows the Norwegian curriculum set by the Ministry of Education, Kunnskapsdepartement. The programme is taught in English and provides the foundation required for students entering into the Diploma programme. A certificate (Kompetansebevis) will be granted upon completion.

VG1 Studiespesialisering consists of the following subjects:

  • English
  • Norwegian
  • French/Spanish
  • Geography
  • Social Studies
  • Mathematics 1P/1T
  • Science
  • Physical Education
  • Students are also expected to participate in the school’s Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) programme.

A step towards being an empathetic global citizen
